why bad things happen to good people
a friend of mine told me he was worried about this friend of his whose house got burned in a freak neighborhood fire. friend of his is a teacher somewhere in mindanao and he left his parents and younger siblings in cebu where the fire took place. the house is all theyve got, it was not even grand, probably just a notch higher than your favorite charity home. text messages from other friends confirmed that his parents now live in make-shift tents. they are not well-off and yet he chose to become a teacher because he wanted to teach kids.
why do bad things happen to good people?
princess diana died in a car crash 10 years ago. ninoy aquino got shot at the tarmac. jose rizal got shot at bagumbayan. julia campbell. martin burnham. nelson mandela. and many others.
bad things probably happen because destiny made it so. to make these living saints human. and for us to follow their example. that we should be greater than who we are, that we should be living beyond our own lives. by falling we are able to appreciate the power of standing up. and it is in standing up that these good people are rewarded: they become immortals.

like the latest news report about mother teresa. it’s through these bad things that we humans struggle to do the right thing despite doubts, despair, fears and emptiness that we encounter on our path. don’t you think it’s good to know that the heroes and saints that we immortalize were once mortals like you and me.

Bad things happen in life as the whole cosmic system is governed by inscrutable laws of Karma… as we sow so shall we reap… nothing less or more! If they were only happiness in life… all would become monotonous… meaningless! Only when we suffer… we understood true value of happiness… never otherwise!
